St. John's, French: Saint-Jean) is the provincial capital of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada and located on the eastern tip of the Avalon Peninsula on the island of Newfoundland. St. John's is the most populous Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) in the province, and following , it is the second largest CMA in the Atlantic Provinces with a population of 181,113. The city enjoys a long and vibrant history as the seat of the provincial Crown; and the oldest English-founded city in North America. [1]
